To the CCAD Workforce: I am sorry to be out of town today and unable to deliver these thoughts to you in person. One of our families here at the Depot has experienced a terrible tragedy, as two of our co-workers and friends, David and Patricia Askew, were involved in a murder/suicide on Thursday. It is difficult to find appropriate words to express the grief that I feel, and that I know we all feel today. I am extremely saddened. It is impossible to find an explanation. Our hearts go out to the Askew family, and also to the CCAD and NAS employees who worked closely with Dave and Patricia. I once read the following: “Let us treat each other kindly always, and with respect, and be gentle in our interactions with each other, as life is too precious and too short to do otherwise.” I think this is a good reflection for all of us today.
