To the ‘Cold Warriors’ who spend countless hours on FB chasing - TopicsExpress

To the ‘Cold Warriors’ who spend countless hours on FB chasing windmills I say- Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future. Saw the above quote on my home page and had to shake my head with some disappointment; not only because it is not original but because the team that is allegedly supporting the Opposition’s bid for office seem to feel that it is necessary to snipe the “cold warrior’s on Face book” as a defence against their flailing campaign efforts. The sad fact is that David Granger is headed back to the ballot with the same team that failed him the first time. Maybe if they had more attention to the commentary on face book they would have realized that their earlier efforts were more of the windmills that they speak of now. Being in the war room does not make one a warrior. Having a global grasp of the battle is what prepares one for the war and it is this fundamental element of preparedness that continues to elude them, even now, ahead of battle number two. I have long said that I am no party member nor am I a fan of politics as usual, but what I am is unequivocally anti PPP and its politics of race and will always join with the opposition to remove this scourge from the office it continues to deface, as long as it remains there. As a consequence all opposition parties have my support and since the two main factions are the APNU and AFC, by proxy, they have mine too and by assimilation, so does Mr. Granger. What is abundantly clear is that these anti windmill chasers do not understand that support is not stroking and agreeing with the politician, but preparing him for the real arena where he has to practice politics and not just wave its flag; where the politics is of real concerns and not hypotheticals; where the answers have to come from a base of practical engagement and not form a rehearsed script. So giving Mr. Granger a taste of unbiased engagement is actually a good thing, not the charm offensive the scripts of the handlers prepare him for. I could say that the hot air from the warm warriors, with inserted slices of quotes from successful AMERICAN politicians(cold warriors), may give them the burst of euphoria they need to feel as though their efforts are effective. But I won’t say that. What I will continue to say is that there is an untapped expanse of assistance that remains available to Mr. Granger and I have written him, personally, and made this offer. The stakes here are not personal aggrandizement or party paramouncy, they are the salvaging of a country and the rescuing of nation from chronic and degenerative politics that have now placed Guyana on the lower portions of every socioeconomic yardstick. A few things are certain here First is, the re-birth of Guyana can never take place under the rule of the PPP. Second is that cryptic and divisive comments from Team Granger should be replaced with an all out plea for help from all of the sources that are available, given this teams tenuous efforts to defeat the PPP behemoth. Thirdly, if unchecked egos and unilateral agendas nullify the second and the first becomes a reality, then we had better replace the country’s national anthem with the spiritual hymn of brokenenss – ‘Nearer my God to Thee” ...And, indeed, that is not what I want for my country.
