To the Editor: I have cancelled my subscription to the NY Times today after being a subscriber for several years. Your blatant anti-Israel stance on the current situation with Gaza is appalling and I will no longer support your views or your company. Todays front page article and picture are pure anti-Israel sensationalism. Of course it is a tragedy that young Palestinian boys playing soccer were killed, but how many Israeli children would have been killed if it werent for the Iron Dome? Israel sends out leaflets to warn civilians of an attack, would Hamas ever do that for Israeli civilians? Israel gives a cease fire so that Gazans can have a chance to get food, supplies, etc. Would Hamas do that?? Instead of tallying the number of casualties, why dont you tally the number of missiles shot? Wouldnt that give a more accurate picture of whats going on? When a leader of Hamas is warned by Israel that his house or missile storage will be attacked, he puts his wife and children on the roof! Israel uses its missiles and defenses to PROTECT its citizens, Palestine uses its civilians to protect its missiles! If the US or any country were bombarded with 80 missiles a day, dont you think they would have the right to fight back? And do you think we or any other country would do such a careful job to avoid killing civilians in the way? Where were all the photos of Iraqi and Afghanistan children killed during the US invasions? Certainly not on the front page of your paper. No, those innocent civilians deaths were justified in the fight for democracy...right? Why is Israel held to such a double standard? When Hitler was in power, people thought what a shame the Jewish people couldnt defend themselves. Now 80 years later, youre telling the world the Jewish people dont have the right to defend themselves. Lets not forget that this outbreak all began when three innocent Israeli boys walking home from school were tortured and killed by Palestinians. I believe your papers portrayal to the world of the current Israeli Gaza fight is really just deep-rooted anti-Zionism and anti-semitism.
