To the South African Students Congress (SASCO) family in and outside Gauteng : A few years ago Former President Thabo Mbeki, a man most of you and I respect so much said, ... gloom and despondency have never defeated adversity. Trying times need courage and resilience. Our strength as a people is not tested during the best of times... . I remind you of these words as we abruptly get reminded today , of what I always say ; that we ought to illustrate our kindness and love to our people at each and every stage of their lives...to celebrate their victories and hold them through testing times, to show them how much we care before they depart from this world of the physical. So that when this inevitable day comes, we are in a position to express, with utmost sincerity , our words of support whose truthfulness has consistently been illustrated through how we related with our friends and comrades during their lifetime. I share these words because , whereas I have not had any notable relations with the late Comrade during my active involvement in SASCO as many of you had, I can bear testament to the fact that in Gauteng, SASCO is a family and this makes me understand fully, the melancholy and pain the members of this family are going through today .
