To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy names sake lead me, and guide me. (Psalm 31:1-3) Im particularly struck tonight by verse 1: In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; At least the first portion of that verse. Thats a powerful sentence, isnt it? In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust;. Because when you think about it, most of us--If not all--have at one time in our lives put our trust in a man. It could have been a preacher of the Word, it could have been a close friend, it could have been even a family member; One of our parents, one of our siblings... Anybody! As much as we love them, respect them, we have to admit that anyone in this world has the potential to let us down and we come to find that our trust was misguided. A short devotional from the Bible Truth Publishers, excerpted from Echoes of Grace. Title: The Unchanging Word. And of course the Word is Christ and Christ is God and so we can kind of expand on that and say the unchanging Word of God or the unchanging God. And this little devotional says: “Feelings come and feelings go, And feelings are deceiving; My warrant is the Word of God-- Naught else is worth believing. Though all my heart should feel condemned For want of some sweet token, There is One greater than my heart Whose Word cannot be broken. Ill trust in Gods unchanging Word Till soul and body sever, For, though all things shall pass away, HIS WORD SHALL STAND FOREVER!” Martin Luther My. You talk about words of comfort and encouragement, there you have it; Gods Word shall stand forever.
