To the extent that the current situation in South Sudan can be characterized as a confrontation between President Kiir and Riek Machar, it is probably nothing more than a war of egos, empty pride and calculations to either grab power or stay in power. Is there any chance that they know this? Possibly not, for how could they know if South Sudanese rally behind them, massaging their egos and telling them that they are the best thing that has ever walked over South Sudans land? I think too many people in South Sudan have taken to these leaders mentality and have propagated the war of egos, by telling each one of them that he the best thing for South Sudan. If it was genuinely about each party trying to convince us that South Sudan would be better off in their hands, they would have swallowed their pride, abandoned their immediate quest for high office and reach a compromise for peace.
