To the members of the Federal Government - while this FB page has always intended to be apolitical, the constant pressure on serving Defence members by the Coalition Government deserves a comment. For serving and ex-serving members, this pressure is what we would expect from the party currently in Opposition, not a Coalition Government. The question we would sincerely like answered is why is this Government trying so hard to be a single term Government? Yes there is so much that has needed to be fixed from the mess and chaos left by the party now in Opposition. Serving and ex-serving members understand this and know that some action needs to be taken. However, while this pressure continues, families (including Defence families) are not at the core of Coalition policies. That is just pure spin and no one outside Canberra would ever believe it. To be a single term Government is the choice of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. At some stage the Government will reach a point of no return in achieving a second term. That point is fast approaching in 2015 - the second year. The choice will either be a leadership spill or back to Opposition - either way the ice is now cracking. So it is time. Time for the serving members to use the ex-service groups such as the DFWA as their voice. Use family members to send letters, emails and FB messages to the new Minister and local members. Be vocal - be very vocal because enough is now enough. Sign Tony Daggers petition on Change.org - whatever you can do but do be active. It now seems serving and ex-serving members no longer have support from either major party. Your comments?
