To the members of the group, and to the good Doctor himself, Barry, I hope youll read this....I remember listening to Dr. Dementos radio show sometime back on Westwood One from a station in Greensboro, NC (and God, how my parents were concerned over the material ). But one of the fun features of the show was the Funny 5 countdown, as done thru the requests of the listeners. The one man who helped shape the countdown format himself passed last year, and now Id like to ask you guys, and even Barry himself, to help us honor a fallen friend (who actually worked with the Doc on WW1 years later). The man is radio legend Casey Kasem, who helped inspire new audiences for Dr. Demento and many other radio shows, as well as became a friend to those of us wanting to hear our favorite hits and find out more about the songs and artists. Now, some of Caseys old friends, fans, and even his daughter Kerri Kasem, and I, have set out to give him one last #1 for him to be honored by, via something special courtesy of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I ask you to check out the link below, this matter is far from funny, and its been something that I think even the Doc would approve of, since Casey himself had a novelty record out in the 60s (look up A Letter To Elaina, or Ill post it here soon).
