To the school administrator who told us our son he was not a good fit for the mainstream classroom and wanted us to lower our expectations....you didnt deserve to have him in your school. To the 2 angels who believed in this kid and have loved him like your own....you changed his life. You changed this family. In my mind you both will always define true educators. To Zachary...I love you son. You have had one uphill battle to make it to the 8th grade. You have been the hardest and most rewarding part of my life all rolled into one. The way you continue to grow and handle the challenges you face in school and life makes me so proud. You have done more to change the world in your 14 years than most of us do in a lifetime. You have never given up or lost your positive attitude. When presented with the option of taking advantage of an easier route with your IEP, you have continued to tell your counselor you want to be like all the other kids and have not requested any special treatment. You are not a honor student, but you own those grades along with ever fiber of knowledge in that brain of yours....that means more to me than a report card ever will. You are kind. Always and to everyone. Nobody has ever told me anything less than how kind you are. That is RAD! You dont have tons of friends, but the ones you do you have picked wisely and you will be friends with them for life. You stick up for yourself and others. You love deeper than anyone I have ever known. On the eve of your first day of 8th grade....Zachary I hope you know that your village LOVES you to your core. You are changing the way people view autistic kids. You are giving a voice for those who have not found theirs yet. I AM PROUD of you Zachary Allen Radack. Cheers to your last year of middle school! You have already beaten the odds...we are on the gravy train now! You got this!!!!! Autism speaks....if you choose to listen. #Za
