To the upcoming college freshmen, school is about to start and I think it would be a good time to give you 15 tips from a senior to help you through your college career. 1. Plan to be in the parking lot 20 minutes before class starts. Rolling in at the last second no longer exists. 2. Try your hardest to keep your GPA high because once you screw it up it takes 3 years to raise it. 3. If you struggle in math take your courses online. Trust me they are a little more expensive but twice as easy. 4. Dont take a professor that you cant find good comments for on websites like ratemyprofessor 5. Remember why you are in college in the first place. Youre not there to party. Youre there to get an education. 6. With that being said, dont forget to have a good time every once and awhile. Youll drive yourself crazy without it. 7. Invest in a good umbrella. Nothings worse then walking ten minutes in pouring rain with a inside out umbrella. 8. Check your school email almost on the hour, professors like to tell you class in canceled 10 minutes before it starts. 9. Eat healthy, exercise. You will get fat eating out everyday. 10. Look into your major and make sure its even possible to get a job with your degree. Nobody wants a $50,000 piece of paper working a job you wear a name tag at. 11. Makes friends in all your classes. Not the ones that sit in the back and stare at their phone the entire time. Talking to the right people could be the difference in a stressful semester or a smooth ride. 12. Go to every single class. Youre paying a lot of money to be in the class so show up. Youll be surprised how much better you do when you are present. 13. Dont buy a textbook till you need it. You may only use 1 or 2 a semester. 14. If you arent sitting in the first three rows you are probably not doing better then a C. 15. Work your butt off at the beginning of the semester and by finals you wont have anything to stress about. These are a few things Ive learned that I wish I had been told when I started 3 years ago. If anyone has anything to add please do.
