To their credit Sanderson does try to minimize the odor to the extent possible. However, the processing plant is not the only source of odor in a operation like this. The chicken houses themselves can be the source of a very foul odor. If Sanderson came to Cumberland County, no part of our county with open land is safe from potentially housing some of the 5 million chickens they will need to process each month. An estimated 600 chicken houses will come, located between rural home tracts. An estimated 1,200 low income families will lose their quality of life and value of their homes. Please call your county commissioner and explain to them that these jobs are NOT worth it!
