To those claiming the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is a spurious use of water, I ask you to check your figures: epa.gov/WaterSense/pubs/fixleak.html Household leaks can waste more than 1 trillion gallons annually nationwide. Thats equal to the annual household water use of more than 11 million homes. (that is the actual mean waste due to leaks per year). To date, we have 3 million donors in the Ice Bucket Challenge. Assuming theyre all from the US (theyre not), and they use 7.5 gallons on average, we have… 21.5 million gallons used, or… 0.002% of the total usage of water from household leaks… #Checkyourfigures
