To those doing the #icebucket challenge, just know that ALS is a common misdiagnosis for Lyme disease. Chronic Fatigue, MS, Lupus, Fibromyalgia and a whole host of other autoimmune diseases have their roots in undiagnosed Lyme disease. Treatments for these misdiagnoses can make the Lyme disease even worse. Please know that Lyme can be passed from mother to child, from husband to wife and every biting insect is capable of carrying the disease. Please if you are told you have any one of these conditions, RUN to a Lyme doctor and get evaluated for Lyme first! Lyme doctors affiliated with ILADS.org are the best trained to evaluate, diagnose and treat Lyme disease and its many co-infections. The most reliable test is through IgeneX, but requires a Lyme doctor to properly interpret the results.
