To those of our fans that follow Cornell girls basketball - I - TopicsExpress

To those of our fans that follow Cornell girls basketball - I submitted my resignation as head coach to Dr. Schley on Monday of this week. I was hoping to inform our team in person, but, as most things in a small town, it isnt much of a secret anymore! It seems en vogue to make these announcements on social media so there you have it! To our players present and past-thank you so much for being such great representatives of our school and community. You truly have represented what is good and honorable in high school athletics. It has been a terrific run the past few years in starting to turn the corner as a program. There are now expectations where, before, there were none. To this years seniors- a lot of thought went into my decision to step down. But I concluded that now was the right time for someone new to take over because I think you girls deserve better than what I can offer. I know your new coach will be in good hands because of the character and work ethic of your class. Watching the transformation youve made from 4th graders who didnt know their left hand had a purpose to some of the finest players in our conference has been a joy to watch for all of us as parents and coaches. Our program will be in great hands with Marcus Leland at the helm. He has the energy and drive to improve upon what I think is a solid base our girls have built and will do a terrific job. Were going to have a very good team this year. Hopefully well get some more participation because we sure could use it. I will look forward to cheering loudly as a fan and a very proud father. Ive heard its harder to get a technical from the bleachers than the bench....so well see. Thank you to all the community members, school staff, and others that made this an an enjoyable experience. Erin and Makenzie-thank you for putting up with me!
