To those of you who use the words ratchet and ghetto - TopicsExpress

To those of you who use the words ratchet and ghetto interchangeably.. Let me take a moment of your time to explain why you really should stop. Ratchet - a tool.. [Have you ever called a man a tool?.. Well ratchet basically is the equivalent, but in female form.] ratchet is a name for someone who gets sloppily intoxicated, throws herself at potential mates (typically found in clubs or social settings) wears very little clothing and most likely will go home with a random at the end of the night. (If you consider yourself to be ratchet please know, that is your own damn business and no one has the right to judge that as a negative or positive thing, live your life girl. Its yours.) Ghetto- a part of a city or area inhabited primarily by members of a minority group. Impoverished/disadvantaged and forced to find creative ways to live happily/efficiently. The tether ball court that Dominique and I made out of a Safeway bag, a rope, basketball and basketball hoop when we were kids... Was ghetto. The random phone call to ur bestie at 3 in the morning not sure where u are... Is ratchet. Using cardboard and duct tape at the soles of our shoes to prevent rain water from getting our socks wet.. Was ghetto. When your friends are holding you up while you twerk on someone and your other friends, simultaneously are holding your skirt down because youre indifferent if your body parts are showing... Is ratchet. Lol do you see the difference? And why interchangeably using those words could potentially be offensive... And how it may make you look a little bit silly? .... Yea, stop that. These are my definitions so if you have something to add, feel free.
