To those who dont look forward to holidays as times to spend with family, because their families are far away; To those who dont feel a cultural connection at Christmas time to the land that is their home now, because their childhood is full of holiday memories of a faraway place and faraway people; To those who havent been fortunate enough to be adopted by a local family that fills their holidays with a sense of belonging; I wish you a Merry Christmas, because I know what it is to be in that place. Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. Thats a piece of advice I myself would do well to remember better.
