To tuck us in this evening, we have the Christmas Canon performed - TopicsExpress

To tuck us in this evening, we have the Christmas Canon performed by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It is a beautiful rearrangement of the Pachelbel Canon in D. However, I wanted to add to this sharing, and I hoped to find something from Shakespeare. It turns out he did not write much regarding this holiday, but I did find this passage from Hamlet in which Marcellus implies that Christmas is the one time of the year when evil spirits don’t walk abroad, [so now we can rest well…..] Some say that ever ’gainst that season comes Wherein our saviour’s birth is celebrated The bird of dawning singeth all night long; And then, they say, no spirit can walk abroad, The nights are wholesome; then no planets strike, No fairy takes, nor witch hath power to charm, So hallowed and so gracious is the time. https://youtube/watch?v=3vLQCjytr5k
