To whom it may concern, I have just returned from a protest - TopicsExpress

To whom it may concern, I have just returned from a protest outside Aras an Uachtarain regarding the signing of the bill and our opposition to it, I will not go down the road of insult for that is in the remit of those in government and our president. I am ashamed of the position that our president Michael D Higgins took today, for a man who was recently in Africa and saw first hand what corruption achieves, starving people, a corrupt government riddled in scandals, financial crisis, people who have to walk miles for clean drinking water, poor infrastructure, massive financial overruns, and yet the only difference between Africa and Ireland is purely geographical, I am ashamed that our president did not uphold the rights of the many, if he ever has the pleasure of meeting me I will not address him as president, a position he acquired as an underdog in the running, nothing here was done in a presidential manner, he signed the bill in an hour before the protest,he didnt have the decency to address those who were at his front door, its easy to fly half way around the world to meet heads of state but when you have those that have elected you outside your front door which we the people have allowed you to have and you choose to ignore them then that is not presidential, I would have in recent times have had an amount of respect for him in many of the agendas he spoke of, but words are only words and actions were ignored by you today and I do not wish to insult the presidency as we are in a democracy, but you Michael D Higgins should view this day a day of shame and cowardly action as a person! On a positive note the mood of those involved was cheery and without resolve, a position more of our politicians can learn from!
