Toby is doing great on his high flow. The team agreed at rounds this morning that Toby needs long term positive pressure. Since high flow is not a home option, that only leaves CPAP. So we are going to try and see if he does okay if he just uses the CPAP while sleeping. If he appears to still need it during the day then we will have to approach more serious interventions. To provide CPAP 24 hours a day, he would need to have are Tracheotomy. We are not even approaching that subject yet because we are hoping just the CPAP mask overnight will work. So because he will be using this machine at night, he is being moved to the PICU. The regular cardiac floor cannot make changes to that machine. I am feeling so happy that we are finally thinking about long term help for his breathing. Hopefully this is our answer to keep him home and out of the hospital!!!!!
