Today, 2 January, I hiked several NCC trails throughout the Greenbelt in Ottawa. Many birders in the Ottawa area are out enjoying day-after-day crippling, eye-level views of Black-backed Woodpeckers. I count myself as one of them. I observed 3 today (1 male, 2 females). Re: American Three-toed in Stony Swamp....I think its going to take a miracle! Switching to eastern mode now: Larose, Mer Bleue, etc. Been a good run in Stony Swamp; what a beautiful area. Good birding.
