Today 27th December, we remember the sinking of MV Pulau Kidjang. It is now 39 years since the tragedy. At 6 p.m. 26/12/73the vessel sailed from KTS Jetty in Kuching, on the Sarawak River and reached the South China Sea at about 8 p.m. at 2.30 a.m. on 27th it went aground near Jerijeh (almost within sight of Sarikei). Chaos broke out and so many souls were lost. For the next few days Sarawak was under a black cloud, the whole state was in mourning. May the souls of those who met their watery deaths rest in peace . Let us say a prayer for them and their families.
