Today 31 years ago I was playing basketball for Baptist University at Toccoa Falls College Basketball tournament when I received the call from David Janney my College pastor. He told me that I needed to call home and speak to Nancy Kalapp .She told me that my Dad Kalapp had passed away suddenly. The Kalapp family took me in as their own when I was 2 years old. Nancy shared with tears that our Dad had passed away from a heart attack. It forever changed my life and the hardest thing I have ever gone through at 19 years old still in college. I know everything happens for a reason. My challenge to young men and women today is to cherish everyday you have with your Dad! You Never know when the last words will be and the key is to listen to your dad even though you wont always agree with him. Do things with your Dad that you enjoy doing and do those things with him you dont always enjoy. I can remember my Dad asking me after work or school do you want to play golf. Well to this day I am the worst golfer ever but I would go because he enjoyed playing and when he wasnt looking the golf ball would be thrown from the middle of the woods straight down the fairway. Laugh about it to this day. My challenge is to Carry on his Legacy and challenge my boys and others to create their own legacy with your own kids some day. Thankful for a Dad who emphasis Faith, Family and Fun (Sports) in my life.
