Today; A day that will live in our memories forever. The day terrorists flew planes into the towers, the pentagon, a lonely field in the middle of nowhere and my mothers’ birthday. I used to have a hard time remembering my moms birthday up until that horrific event, as a matter of fact I rarely remember anybodies birthday. Growing up in my house, birthdays for the most part were a non-event. There was a home-made cake, maybe a gift, a card from a grandparent with a $1.00 bill in it and command of the television for an hour, and that was only if your special day fell on a Saturday. No streamers, banners, sleep-overs, candles, cook-outs, clowns, balloons, confetti, pizzas, games, songs or ice cream. It was just another day, like today. And today I remember you You were... The laugh that split our sides The kiss that dried our tears The glue that held us together The strength that carried us over The straw that stirred our drinks The polish that shined our smiles The elbow that scrubbed our stains The heart that held us all And the prayers that saved our souls You not only live in our memories, You are a part of our lives. And we miss you Happy Birthday Mom.
