Today Annies doctors came in all robed, masked and gloved up. I knew something was going on. They said her cultures showed positive for VRE. Which is a vancomycin resistant bacteria. (Vancomycin is one of several antibiotics she has been on for months). They are saying it is colonized. Which apparently means not spreading or causing other problems for now. Ugh! Just one more thing! The good news is she is feeling better and hasnt had fever in over 24 hours. They are giving her other antibiotics also that will help. So we are set to be released from the hospital this afternoon. She will be in isolation when at the hospital or clinic because of the weakened immune systems of the other patients (hence the doctors attire - just trying not to spread it to other patients), but those of us with normal immune systems are really not in danger. Keep praying for no more fever and that her blood will start rebuilding on its own soon!
