Today, DIA Director LT. Gen. Michael Flynn, USA, commissioned a new class of Army officers from the ROTC of the University of Rhode Island. Flynn commended the state of Rhode Island for its long history of military service and encouraged the new officers to become a new generation of American military leaders: The U.S. is going to need future leaders that push the Army forward, look for critical gaps and find solutions, bridge divides between partners and allies, and accomplish more than the mission calls for. We need leaders who are smart, flexible, and committed to the mission at hand. You will have to step up and be those leaders... From this point on, you will have to stand out in a much bigger crowd – because it is now on you to carry on Rhode Island’s good name. Congratulations, and I wish you the best of luck in your military career.
