Today Dave & I had a special opportunity to once again thank a man who played a significant part in our daughters heart surgery over 21 years ago. A fresh blood donation was needed the morning of her surgery, and since no one in our family was compatible with her blood type, we made the need known to our church family. Elmer Kent stepped up, and drove to Oaklawn, IL the morning of her surgery to donate fresh blood. We have not seen him since she was a toddler, and had the opportunity to today at a friends funeral. It was a blessing to have another opportunity to thank him again, and tell him she is a beautiful 22 year old woman now! He got emotional several times as we talked. You could tell the memory was near & dear to his heart, and that our expressing appreciation all these years later deeply touched him! He was thrilled to hear where she is today, and took pride in knowing he played a special part in her journey! Its important to take time to tell people what they mean to you, it is a gift!
