Today, December 11th, marks the 50th anniversary of the passing of Sam Cooke. A true legend and pioneer in a world where those words are thrown around far too often nowadays. The impact of his is work is beyond measure in terms of artistic merit and social influence. His iconic song A Change Is Gonna Come is as spot on today as it was 50 years ago. He wrote it having been inspired by Martin Luther King Jrs I Have A Dream Speech, only performed it once in public (on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson) and was sadly gone before it was released as a single on December 22nd 1964.
