Today, December 1st, is World AIDS Day. Did you know that there - TopicsExpress

Today, December 1st, is World AIDS Day. Did you know that there are more than 32 million people around the globe living with HIV? CDC estimates that 1,201,100 persons aged 13 years and older are living with HIV infection, including 168,300 (14%) who are unaware of their infection. I post this video every year because this was my first, and most memorable exposure to this insidious disease. As I watched a nation, and the world, panic and blame and ignore the unfolding of an epidemic, I was in shock that so many of my friends were not only getting pregnant unintentionally but that not one of them ever seemed to be concerned about AIDS. I still dont understand it. This isnt a sermon about abstinence, its a dont die because you were naive heart to heart. I dont care how old you are, protect yourself. Dont be afraid to speak up to your partner. There was one line later in this episode that really hit home for me; that people make mistakes. Its not a mistake that they should have to die for. Please take a moment today and share, or at least think of those who are living with HIV, or who have lost someone to a disease that ravages not only those it kills, but those who survive as well. Love; do not judge.
