Today Heath lawn Staff got a call about a dog that had lay in a ditch since early St.Stephens morning.THREE DAYS this beautiful little collie girl has lay on the side of a road visible to many who drove past her.She lay there, unable to move in freezing tempertures. As staff arrived at the scene today they could see the remains of broken glass and part of a bumper ...and a terrified little girl unable to use her hind legs.As always we have to take extreme care when handling dogs in pain as they can react through fear and pain.We managed to roll her in a duvet and carry her to our van, thou every move was obviously painful for her.We got her to our vets, where for her safety and our vets we did muzzle her so our vet could carry out an examination. Without xrays our vet thinks she may have a broken pelvis and tail....tomorrow we will know for sure.Such a sweet girl who through her pain still tried to luck our hands and tried in vain to wag her tail....We have named her Briar....she is tonight somewhat pain free due to meds but at least warm and safe... The causalty of the road which is at times unavoidable but why didnt the person who hit her at least ring us earlier or let someone know...the family who first noticed her Stephens Day morn only found a contact number today...to them we are thankful as at least they had tried to do their best.... Fingers x that tomorrow brings good news for Briar....She was found just outside Kiltormer on the Laurencetown rd.We have no calls about a missing collie in the area but she may have a family out there....whatever her history Briar is now in our care and we are ready to welcome her to Heathlawn.
