Today I alluded to the parallels and intersections between former University of Nairobi student leader Karl Marx and Raila Odinga. They both worked hard to form and transform to entities, Kenya for Raila n SONU for Marx but they were (Raos case is applies) both kept from leading the two entities they sacrificed comfort for by the systems agents. Some of these agents are well known and are/were close friends to the two but they foolishly dined and wined with them. When Moses Oburu became Sonu chair, Marx was a 2nd year, and everyone felt he was not ripe to lead an organization he had fought to revive, so Marx went for the powerful Sec. General post. Oburu in his wisdom backed Joseph Kioko for Sec Gen, Kioko beat Marx to it and son of Owiro was never the same again. The same way Railas victory was snatched from him in 2007 and the results of 2013 manipulated is the same way subsequent elections in SONU were skewed even when Marx ran for Organizing Secretary post to fool the system that that was not a powerful post. He lost to some nondescript called Wamalwa. As Raila, prepares to calm the storm in ODM to prepare for 2017 elections, I hope he is aware that the system will not allow him to lead this country. The difference between the two is Raila is a son of a rich man, he always had money and social support at every setback which helps him make a comeback, something that Marx lacked and led to his demise. Like Rwandan RPF hero Alfred Gisa aka Fred Rwigyema, they are both so courageous and charismatic, which also happens to be their greates weakness. The opposite of Kagame, Rwigyema failed to read his troops hence lead his troops well, and he was assassinated. Food for thought.
