Today I am bit relieved as I have been able to complete the english translation of a marvellous book on the Uttrakhands catastophical disaster of 15th and 16th june in Kedar Valley, Uttrakhand. Originally authored in Hindi by my journalist friend Ved Uniyal/ Ved Bhai had been to almost all the affected villages of the disaster inflicted/infested areas and had jotted the major events and happenings in a diary. His personal experiences, one to one interactions with the people , various aspects of the aftermath situations, peoples agony, problem of survival, increase in migrations after the catostrophe, complacense of the government machinery, armys tremedous contribution in the rescue operations and his visit to the Chipko leader Gaura Devis village Raini in addition to many other villages as well, have been very well articulated and portrayed in detail in the book titled : Dekhi Peer Pahad Kee. While thanking Ved bhai to have given me the opportunity to translate this book, I feel I would consider it my proud privilege to at least render point one percent service towards the disaster cause of Uttrakhand. The book is of 100 pages and is a direct commentary and testimony of what happened there in Kedar Valley a year ago, on the ill fated days of 15th, 16th and 17th June, 2013. Lets sincerely hope that the english version of this book also reaches your hands in few months time. Regards. Sunil Negi, President, Uttrakhand Journalists Forum
