Today I am full of awe at the beauty of the human spirit. I spent the morning getting reenergized in teaching with an inspirational in-service (just what we all needed). Lately we have been hearing so much about the turmoil, the new evaluations, the societal ills all of our children are facing when we talk about education, and oftentimes it paints a dim picture on education.The presenter shared this story and it was very touching. This teacher/coach took the time to make a difference in this childs life. There is so much more to being a teacher than test scores and teacher ratings. It is the human interactions and the things that students cannot learn from textbooks. Making a commitment to share weekly stories of the beauty that lies within my profession.
