Today I am thankful for Leah. Her entry into our lives was the answer to soooo many prayers!! We had gone through so many months of fertility treatments--we refer to those as the bad old days. We were afraid that her birth mom would change her mind!!! And Leah was this absolutely wonderful, laid back kiddo from day one. (Now we did make the mistake of attributing her sanguine temperament to our superior parenting skills, but that is another story.) She has a kind and generous spirit. She is loving and forgiving. She makes me laugh. She bears her limitations with a refreshing honesty, and almost never tries less than her hardest. When we went to meet Bens birth mom, we took Leah along so that she would think we were great parents--see parenthesis above--and it worked. We have always said that Leah is obviously adopted, since she is waaaay nicer than we are. What a blessing she has been for almost 23 years! Tears in my eyes and a heart full of love!
