Today I am thankful for my Mother-in-Law Shirley Arnold. As unusual as it is for a daughter-in-law to feel that way, I do and I am very thankful for her and all that she has taught me. She is the woman that taught me how to can and preserve the harvest, encouraged me to learn gardening to feed my family, and how to be a more frugal housewife. She grew up on a farm at the end of the Great Depression, during the time of WWII. A woman of great faith, if it is true as the Bible tells, that it takes a child like faith to reach heaven, she will surely be an angle of heaven when she passes. Many a recipe have I learned from her as well, and she gifted me with her cookbook collection. I must say there is a recipe that I regret not having her write down before Alzheimers took her memory and that is her recipe for scrapple, hers was the best I have ever tasted. But of course I am most thankful for the gift of her son, my husband, my soulmate and best friend Kevin Arnold. What about you, what blessings will you be grateful for today? Blessed be )0(
