Today I am thankful to have met my training team at Pursuit Athletic Performance . I literally stumbled into their doors after a lunch meeting to see what they were all about, and they looked at me and said We can help you get stronger, faster, and help you be a lifelong athlete despite your multiple injuries. I was reluctant. They brought me in for a three hour assessment and I watched their faces in amazement as I went through a series of strength and mobility exercises. They took me back to some basics to get more core strong again, my pelvis as aligned as it can be, and lay down those neuropathways that were so horribly damaged. I am now a few months in with my work. I had a little set back with a major surgery 8 weeks ago that required slicing my side back open, and I worked through many of those exercises as I was healing. Today, I was back on the computrainer (computerized bike work out)... After my session, I stood infront of my coach with tears in my eyes.. Two years ago today my family was pushing me in a wheel chair, I could walk half of a hallway, and needed hours of wound care daily.. I was in so much pain from the hole in my buttocks area I could not sit for more than 45 minutes at a time, and was losing fluids constantly from all of the various holes in my body that were packed or being vacced from wound vacs.. I had a colostomy bag, a catheter, I was about 108 pounds, and just happy to hug my family who had come together to celebrate Thanksgiving with me at Gaylord Specialty Healthcare. Today, I stood infront of my coach dripping in sweat after interval training with a smile and tears.. I am the product of prayer. I am the product of heroes. I am the product of family, friends, love, and fight.. I am eternally thankful. By the Grace of God, go us... Today, think of where you were two years ago.. that was the past..and that past help lay the roots of where you are today. Each second, each breath, is a gift that can only be accepted if you choose to unwrap it and make the best of it. How beautiful that one life is wrapped within so many others..
