Today I am very thankful for a son that I can have deep spiritual - TopicsExpress

Today I am very thankful for a son that I can have deep spiritual discussions with. And the insight he has that is far beyond his 17 years on earth. Today this insight challenged me; for years I have been exposing one of the enemies subtle and very effective lies God will never give you more than you can handle. No it is not in the Bible, though many have argued with me until they could not find it after I challenged them to. Though the Bible does say He will provide a way out of temptation, which is very different than a trial. First let me expose the power behind the lie “God will never give you more than you can handle.” It opens the door of serious doubt: God is not able, I must not be a real Christian, God does not love me because I can’t handle this, God is not real or I would not be going through this, I am not worthy, I do not have enough faith, God sent this my way to punish me, and so much more! The truth God will never give you more than HE can handle. You need to take it all to Him and allow Him the Lordship (authority) to handle it. So today my son comes to me saying If God gave us only what we could handle there would be no persecution! Wow, he was so right. It got me thinking, (yeah I know that can be dangerous). Neither would there be martyrs for the sake of Christ, or sickness and disease. There would be no words, because cruel words are some of the most destructive things on earth. To just be totally honest, we could not exist! Because we do and say things that are so devastating to each other, even when we do not try. So today I am thankful for the re-minder from my precious son; to be thankful for all that I could not handle, because God has shown me through those many things I could not begin to handle; He is in control and He loves me more than I could ever imagine! Oh yeah, and He can handle it all with no problem! © Zavia Hope Thomas
