Today, I asked a group of kids I taught to think about something - TopicsExpress

Today, I asked a group of kids I taught to think about something before they started dancing: to deeply believe that they are supported and loved; and to believe that someone, even if it is just one person, sees how amazing they are. I see so much unlocked potential in so many dancers, and it really breaks my heart because I know they want to excel, but something is holding them back... I think its that they are scared to be truly seen for who they are and not loved and accepted in return. So, I let them dance with no one watching, just our backs silently cheering them on, and then I asked them to do it again the same way, but to allow us to watch. I got chills. Each of the dancers at RDC is so beautiful and unique, and I felt like for those few minutes, they unapologetically had the guts to expose who they are. I am a believer in practicing what you preach... so, world, here I AM on this day, dancing. :)
