Today I attended morning mass and Deacon ORourke started his homily by talking about how fall is a time of transformation. I immediately thought about the beautiful colors that I have been observing here in town and on the trips to and from Peoria. I then thought about this man I have been blessed to have as my father-in-law and the transformation that he is going through right now - something we are all struggling to understand and accept. I also thought about my beautiful and wonderful mother-in-law who is going through a transformation she may never have imagined. Despite her pain, worry, frustration and many other emotions, she is standing by him and wont let go. I also know that He - Jesus - is standing by both of them and the entire family and He wont let us go. In the midst of these trials of life, it is comforting to know that He will be with us no matter what. Here are a few lyrics from a song I listened to over and over again on the ride home last night - I was envisioning these words coming from Jesus to Bob and Lynda: I will stand by you, I will help you through. When youve done all you can do, if you cant cope. I will dry your eyes, I will fight your fight. I will hold you tight and I wont let go. Peace and love to each of you. Your outpouring of love, prayers, hugs, comforting words, food, and good deeds has been overwhelming and amazing. You have stood by us in so many ways and havent let us go. I dont know how to express my gratitude right now other than to say thank you. youtube/watch?v=4fqPcnuVPR8
