Today I blocked the biggest thing I have ever knit. It is a V - TopicsExpress

Today I blocked the biggest thing I have ever knit. It is a V shaped shawl (Janel Laidman, the seed of this idea germinated in your class!). I designed it and charted the lace pattern as I worked it up so I can publish the pattern. I wanted it to be generous in size so you could truly wrap up in it, and I wanted it to really make a statement. It is knit out of 4 different lace weight yarns that I spun, all of them luxurious fiber blends. I was really careful with the workmanship because I not-so-secretly hope it will be an heirloom family piece that unborn generations who never met me will look at it and think, "Good grief! That woman had some serious time on her hands. Get a job, lady." Alas, such is our gene pool. Although I finished knitting it 10 months ago I had to wait until I had my work big work table back at the shop to be able to spread it out. So, I got it wet and started to spread it out and it just kept getting bigger. I finally got it all stretched and pinned and it is 7 feet from tip to tip! I had originally thought I would name the pattern after the architecture that was the inspiration for the lace work but now I am thinking perhaps a more accurate moniker would be "The Shawl That Ate Sitka". Pictures soon!
