Today I bought a gift to Mali, the beautiful elephant of Manila - TopicsExpress

Today I bought a gift to Mali, the beautiful elephant of Manila Zoo: A shower ( a spray water compressor , 1,5 horse power, 5 meters hose). Malis trainer Noel Co, who takes care of her since 13 years ago, made me a necklace with snake bones and gave it to me as a token of appreciation. Contrary to what it is being said by an animal protection group, Mali is not sick, all the contrary she is very healthy, and she is not confined to a small enclosure pen. She lives in a 5.000 sq meters space ( ten times bigger than the space suggested referring to elephants in captivity by AZA --Association of Zoos and Aquariums). She is the most popular animal in the zoo and is surrounded by love from her trainer, the management and personnel of the Zoological Division, and by more than a million of children and parents who visit her every year. Mali is very attached to her trainer Noel Co who lives just few meters from her and who is completely dedicated to her. He feeds her daily with 200 kgs of bananas , pineapples, carrots, coconuts, potatoes, grass..,; she drinks three times a day over 100 liters of water. Noel is bathing and scrubbing her daily. Malis space at the Manila Zoo is under renovation: sand, dust, green areas, pond, ... The ambassador of Shri Lanka has promised to bring two elephants as companions and I myself would like to donate a calf, a baby elephant , to be with Mali so that she can live many more years happy in the Philippines.
