Today I celebrate the life of Maya Angelou. The memory of singing with her is as clear and powerful as the day we created it. I heard the news while presenting at AFP Houston sharing a very familiar slide quoting my dear mentor, You want to compose a good world, its an honorable and Noble profession. Her words have been my vision statement for philanthropy for over two decades. It is also fitting that today is the beginning of the 20TH Fundraising and Development Conference in Madison Wisconsin. Don Gray , conference chair, shares my passion and respect for Maya. For 20 years we have shared her inspiration with all our colleagues in our fundraising profession.
