Today I fasted to make up one of my Ramadan days - it was hard - subhanallah how we take food for granted - but not in Syria -my fast ended around 5 pm I was counting the minutes to eat my date and drink my water - but not in Syria - I found myself thinking of my brothers and sisters who dont have anything to eat for days on end and I hated myself for feeling hungry, for sleeping two hours in the day because I had no energy for anything else - not in Syria - they have to endure hours, days, weeks without food, without warmth, without shelter, without help, without safety, without parents, without children, without siblings - its a travesty what is happening there and inshahAllah they will be free from this test soon. I wish every day to return to a country with amazing people, to a country whose citizens are proud, dignified, hospitable, funny, charming and classy - who like the *craic as much as me - I wish this every day and I know Allah will not let me down. Ya Rub their destiny is in your hands - make it easy for them and give them patience to bear it.
