Today, I fly to Baltimore/Washington to spend Friday at the offices of the DETC accrediting body, discussing further our process of accreditation with officials there for our Union University. I will be staying in the home of my good friends Lawrence and Ruth Willoughby, then Saturday hanging out with Phil and Marsha Heap, pastors of the Rockville Church of the Nazarene. Marsha Heasley Heap was my first Spanish-language student at Eastern Nazarene College in 1978 after I returned from missionary service in Bolivia. Phils parents were missionaries in Guatemala where he grew up, but of English descent where my parents and his, crossed paths in the 1950s. In the late 90s, I served on staff under Phil at the Rockville, Md Church of the Nazarene where my church membership remains. I have been asked to preach at the church on Sunday as part of the 20th anniversary of Phils service to the church. Phil and Marsha remains two of my dearest friends. I return to Los Angeles on Monday.
