Today I found out my mom’s African Grey Parrot, Scarlet died. I - TopicsExpress

Today I found out my mom’s African Grey Parrot, Scarlet died. I loved to sing and dance with that bird. But she was very sad and not healthy, thin, dark feathers, bright blue circles under her eyes. She was intelligent just like a dog once I learned to read her ways of communicating (took a long time to warm up to her). In a cage, alone, under stimulated is no life for these intelligent creatures. I dreamed of moving to the tropics and taking her with me getting her healthy with warm sun and fruit, a cage big enough where she could fly.. I will remember how she would pump on her swing, move her head up and down, and immediately bow her head when I stuck a finger in her cage and would keep it down wanting more pets... and the little licking motion she’d do with her tongue (that looked like a little thumb)... last time we hung out we did african style dancing and I sang to her for a good few minutes while no one was home. I am going to miss her but her spirit is with me! I love you scarlet and I feel bad I couldn’t help you more. My mom adopted her (12 years ago) from the parking lot of a bird show from a “tweaker” dude who had a truck stacked high of thin card boxes filled with exotic birds. Scarlet was one of the “troubled” birds, the man had bites all over his arm from her, she immediately warmed up, cuddled, and buried her head in my mom’s arms, she felt she wanted to save her and got her for a discounted price from him.... https://youtube/watch?v=32xAVh3NSYg
