Today I found out that a lovely man by the name of Mitchell passed away. I would see him every weekend sitting at the front lobby of my building. From 9-12 each Saturday and Sunday he would greet people. I often sat with him for a few minutes, and we would talk about the history of the Jewish community in Toronto. He would tell me about the Best roast beef sandwiches he used to eat in Kensington market. He was a very lovely man, with a smile and story. A couple of weeks after I returned from being away, I noticed Mitchell was no longer in the lobby on the weekend. Today I found out he passed away. Shame. Wherever you are Mitchell, I hope you are enjoying a delicious roast beef sandwich, with a nice side order of pickles.
