Today I found out that being patient (or maybe I was procrastinating) and not running out to upgrade my phone was a mistake. I have the Galaxy S3 and couldnt upgrade until September of 2014. My phone has many problems but was not one that was recalled so US Cellular was willing to let me trade early because of the problems I had. Then they told me the S5 was being released like the next day. This was back in May or so. I put it off because of the S5. Well then I got busy and never did it. I didnt want to spend the money so I put it off. Today I went to US Cellular to consider upgrading. I left with the attitude that I will die many years from now with my S3 in my pocket and my old plan on the books! It used to be when you upgraded your phone you picked it out and it cost anywhere from $1.00 to $300 (depending on the model you chose and the sales they had going) if you renewed your plan. If you didnt sign up for a plan then the phone was some ridiculously high price like $600. Ive had the same plan for many years and the last time I talked to a sales rep I was told .. practically in quotes here.. never get rid of that plan.. its way better than what we have to offer these days. Now I find out that when you upgrade.. they require you to get a new plan and they add $33.xx to your monthly bill for the next 20 months until the phone is paid off. I was like.. no I just want to pay the one time payment and be done with it. So the phone is $660... or I can pay $33.xx a month. My bill would go from $72.xx to $112.xx. Excuse me? Im either going to keep my plan forever WITH insurance and when my S3 dies then can give me another or I will go somewhere else! Ok .. Ive said my piece. What a rollercoaster of a day! One minute something good happens.. minor but good, then something equally minor but bad happens.. then good then bad. I might be ready to go back to work tomorrow. I said might. On a good note I did get my hat back. :) AND... today is my 4th day in a row without a Pepsi. Been drinking liquid sunshine. :)
