Today I gave a MCLE presentation on substance abuse in the legal profession at Musick, Peeler & Garrett LLP in downtown Los Angeles. I presented on the prevalence of substance abuse among lawyers and how it impairs their ability to provide competent representation to their clients. I partnered with Mark Bollinger-- a therapist in training, and he spoke of the common signs and symptoms of substance abuse. The presentation was very informative and I hope to bring more awareness of this growing problem to the legal community.
