Today I got the opportunity to discuss with some top officials of the State Bank of India during thier visit to Reliance Education Complex . During the course of a friendly discussion with them, one of the officers suggested “ Sir, Why don’t you have a Current Account of your institution in SBI for smooth transaction?’ I simply replied him “ Sir, I can not transact smoothly with SBI on the following grounds : (1) I have no time to stand on the queue for 2 hours to deposit the amount in my account (2) Your counter clerks are not available with the counter in the pick banking hours ( they are found on the tea stalls) (3) They are never customer-friendly as they consider themselves superior beings. (4) As many of them have been continuing in the same branch for years together (forgoing promotion), they don’t have perfect knowledge about SWO system (5) Most of the employees refuse to make payment to the customers on silly ground and they enjoy when a customer returns with despair and dissatisfaction (6) There are different Provisions of different SBI in the same Town. (7) The Branch Manager of the Bank have no command over his subordinates. When discussion gained momentum I asked the officer “ Sir, can a clerk of your bank come to my office to open a current account?” The officer remained silent. He was trying to change the topic. I drew his attention and said “ Sir, if I call any branch manager of any nationalize bank or any private bank to open an account , he will gladly accept my request and come to me to open the account as early possible. “ Ultimately the topic was changed and we discussed about the rainfall in western Odisha.
