Today I had one of those this is why moments. Over 18 months ago I gave my # to an inmate who was leaving soon for a long-term rehab. Twice while at the rehab he was able to get a pass to come home for a supervised visit with his 5 children, which was only possible if we would provide the r/t transportation. It was 190 miles travel in the am, 190 miles again in the evening each time. Many teary miles on the return trips, but great bonding times. For 18 months an order of protection still prohibited any contact with his wife, written or verbal. He expected the promised divorce papers could arrive at any time. This week he arrived home and immediately invited me to their home. Today I shared hugs, coffee and prayer with a reunited family, o.o.p. expired, amends made, and schedules drawn for CR meetings and Bible studies. YES!!
