Today I had taken my daughter out to a recreation center not too - TopicsExpress

Today I had taken my daughter out to a recreation center not too far away from my neighborhood and on our way back I was waiting at the bus stop when it began raining cats and dogs. Unfortunately the bus stop did not have a cover and neither were we equipped to beat the rain. The stop was pretty much by the side of a open parking lot with little or nothing to provide shelter , so I picked up Rimi in my arms and ran to duck under a tree. We stood there for almost 20 minutes with Rimi clinging hard onto me saying mummy I am cold .. to add to our misery, 2 buses simply passed by saying they were out of service. I stood there forever soaking in the rain and praying either the rain would stop or a bus would come along when I suddenly heard someone say excuse me maam...i turned around to see a little black guy, he pointed to one of the few cars in the parking lot and said, my dad out there wants to know if you need a ride... For a brief second I thanked my stars for sending the unexpected help my way but the next moment I pulled myself back thinking how can I step into a car with a completely unknown man...Id rather freeze to death in the cold rain than risk the unknown. .The man in the car was still smiling at me..i grumbled something like oh Im just waiting for the bus..its ok, thanks though... and turned around immediately to avoid further eye contact..another 20 minutes later my bus arrived..Rimi had already fallen asleep in my arms and as I sat shivering inside the bus, I pondered over my last action..was I being foolish in not accepting someones kindness and was just over reacting..or is it so that i have I lost faith in the goodwill of the human kind and given in to disgust and disrespect for whatever good that came my way in the guise of unknown...i do not know..but I just regret knowing all the good people who have given me bad experiences since because of you i live in constant fear as my mind has closed its doors to the goodwill of the unknown...
